Feli di Giorgio is a native of New York city who spent an extended period of his youth in Europe.
Of Italian ancestry he was raised in a household of opera singers and developed an interest in the arts at an early age.
Upon returning to the United States he studied industrial design at Rochester Institute of Technology and character animation at the California Institute of the Arts (CalARTS).
Visual Effects
Before returning to CalARTS for his final year of studies Feli di Giorgio was recruited by then startup Digital Domain, founded by James Cameron, Stan Winston, Scott Ross and the IBM corporation, as one of their first artists.
He quickly rose through the ranks and to date has worked on dozens of commercials and over 40 feature film projects. These include classics like True Lies, Apollo 13, Titanic and contemporary titles like Where the Wild Things Are, TRON: Legacy, Iron Man III and The Avengers.
During his tenure in the visual effects business he has worked for such noted companies as Digital Domain, Walt Disney Feature Animation, Sony Imageworks, Method Studios, MPC, Framestore, Prime Focus VFX, The Mill and ScanlineVFX; serving as a senior artist, supervisor and department head.
Recently he completed a 3 year stint at Apple Inc. as a visual effects supervisor and colorist.
His work has been recognized with wins and nominations by the Visual Effects Society (VES) and Clio Gold Award.
He is currently working in Los Angeles and points beyond as a Visual Effects Supervisor and Senior Compositor.
Directorial
In recent years he has begun to position himself as a director and has completed several short films.
He is currently pursuing the development of his first feature film while continuing to shoot smaller projects.
Photography
A life long photographer he specializes in photojournalistic and street photography. He primarily works in black and white film and with natural light. He is warming up to the idea that digital is not just a passing fad and that color in photography may not be as a big a distraction as thought.
